Another day of long sunny spells and a maximum temperature of 24.1C.
With light winds and a DP of 18.5C for much of the afternoon it felt just about perfect. The warmth and the sunshine hasn't really left this part of the world since those heady days of July. Sunshine total for this month to date is now at 73 hours, that's an average of over 9 hours a day. Monthly rainfall is at 6.1 mm and the soils remain rather parched. Offshore SST around 18C to 19C, warmer nearer the shore. The sea hasn't felt this warm since the summer of 2005. In 2006, August was unsettled and cool thus the sea temperature never really went that high despite the warmth of June & July that summer. Another warm, fine evening - we're being spoilt. Good for the holiday-makers who seem to be here in bigger numbers than last year. (19:00), 20.4C, RH 67%, DP 14.1C, 1020 hPa (S), Wind 4 mph S. -- Nick G Otter Valley, Devon 20 m amsl http://www.ottervalley.co.uk |
