Default [OBS] Romsey - Saturday 7th September 2013

A fair morning. We've managed to avoid the showers until a
moderate to heavy one dispensed 1.9mm in a 5 minute burst
ending at 1305Z. This was very localised but we caught the
middle of it, dropping the air temperature by 3 degrees from
which it has never recovered.

Now we seem to be on the southern edge of a larger, more
potent beast chucking out lightning while the sun attempts
to pop out from the overhanging cloud. Thunder was first
audible at 1418Z well away to the west. The storm is now
centred about 4 miles to our WNW and moving at a crawl.
A prolonged, slight rain shower 1400-1432Z.

The storm took its sweet time to pass by to the north with
thunder heard for over 1 hour, finally going quiet by 1540Z,
only just declaring the storm ceased by the ob. An outbreak
of moderate rain fell 1535-1540Z. Rainbow visible.

Brief sprinkles of rain in the sunshine have maintained a
rainbow for a large chunk of the last hour. The sky looks
'tidy' to the south with blue sky and small to medium sized
Cu while the northern aspect is quite messy with Cb debris.
There's one active Cb dishing out the odd boom of thunder
in the distance, about 8 to 10 miles off. Thunder heard at
1645Z and 1650Z.
