uk.sci.weather (UK Weather) (uk.sci.weather) For the discussion of daily weather events, chiefly affecting the UK and adjacent parts of Europe, both past and predicted. The discussion is open to all, but contributions on a practical scientific level are encouraged.

I agree it has been a very quiet season so far - but it is a good idea to
wait till the end of the season before assessing a forecast for a season.

Maybe you could pass that advice on to NASA who were convinced that du t AGW hurricanes would abound. However they are the experts.

Wasn't the general concensus that global warming would lead to no more
hurricanes
than usual, but there would be a tendency for there to be more stronger
ones?

The consensus is for slightly fewer tropical cyclones, but a slightly
greater proportion of the more intense storms (Cat 4/5).

So someone here said but I've never seen that proof of previous prediction. But suddenly its like " oh we never said that you have it wrong, we've always said less storms but stronger" However Col that doesn't work either as cat 3 and upwards were far more prevalent in the past than now with Katrina the last real hurricane to hit land was a cat 3 .

Anyhow that's away from the point that NASA who went from moon landings to loon forecasts in 40 years and keep making stupid predictions in reality don't know what they are talking about. What they do have though just like UKMO is an AGW enhancing machine . You put in benign normal weather one end and it comes out the other end as

"RECORD BREAKING FLOODS DUE TO GLOBAL WARMING AND WICKED WESTERN HUMANS"

That is classic hedge yer bets baloney Adam . it says the models predict less hurricanes but say their confidence in the models is very low and why? Because it didn't fit with their doom laden scenarios of superstorms

This its what they say from 2007

"modelling studies investigating tropical storm frequency simulate a decrease in the overall number of storms, though there is less confidence in these projections and in the projected decrease of relatively weak storms in most basins, with an increase in the numbers of the most intense tropical cyclones. "

They quote the models and then cover their bases and boost their apocalyptical AGW outlook by saying they had less confidence in that prediction.

Just again Adam they are saying the models predict a decrease but they don't have much confidence in model scenarios that don't switch on the funding taps.

These people are not just rubbish they are bad two faced lying rubbish.

Hasta la vista baby
