220,000 without power? So many with their travel disrupted? A cheap shot? Go tell them they've been dyed too. If you and your green zealot AGW mates get their way , the whole country will get its energy from wind turbines which of course cannot run when the winds reach certain speeds, which are well be low storm force. Then of course the whole country will be without power , but in the world of the eco fascist that doesn't matter, it only matters when power is lost supposedly caused by evil co2. What kind of people are you? |

Wasn't most of that number due to Dungeness power station shutting down for safety reasons? Mostly trees falling through the power lines and safety cutouts from flying debris breaking or shorting out lines. Our old rural local cables could fail that way before they were replaced. Dungeness B lost its external grid connection and shutdown at 0710. The hydroelectric pumped storage generators quickly stepped in to cover. You can still see it in the traces on Gridwatch - top two solid shaded daily. Lucky there was a fair amount of wind power today too. (although none where I live it was flat calm here early morning) Surprised there haven't been more reports of failed wind turbines... -- Regards, Martin Brown |
