Default I wish I had a crystal ball....

I could really do with knowing what the weather is going to be like in January 2014 as I could do with the ground drying out a bit around here and the Christmas period is looking wet - bah

The trouble is that the ground dries so slowly at this time of the year
that it will need quite a long dry spell. And long dry spell probably
means either high pressure or an easterly, so the ground could well
freeze solid, which I imagine wouldn't suit you.

2014

Jan 1 11:14 Anticyclonic.

Jan 8 03:39 Thundery almost exactly the same as for the 30th. There is a tendency towards... Anticyclonic though.

Jan 16 04:52 Anticyclonic.

Jan 24 05:19 Anticyclonic.

Jan 30 21:39 Thundery and thus volcanoes dominate still, I imagine.

Feb 6 19:22 Really wet. So that will be snow then?

Feb 14 23:53 Anticyclonic.

Feb 22 17:15 Anticyclonic.

Mar 1 08:00 Mar 8 13:27 Mar 16 17:09 Anticyclonic that should kep you going until the season pulls its finger out. Mar 24 01:46
Mar 30 18:45 Apr 7 08:31 Apr 15 07:42 t Apr 22 07:52
Apr 29 06:14 A May 7 03:15 May 14 19:16 May 21 12:59

The trouble is that if it is a blocked set up you are stuffed whatever, even if I am wrong -because of the ocean cycles. But if the NAO is positive I will be right, I think.

I think we will still be in the volcanic section of whatever the cycles are (metonic?) On the other hand a drastic change in the mode of the BoM South Atlantic has just occurred so it may be all change again. But I don't know what's next. It has got to volcanoes from super-quakes.

It might be possible to work out what the cycles are from the Unisys Tropical Storm archive. Volcanoes run with cold here and floods everywhere. I don't recall much news about droughts and fires.

Droughts and fires occurred along with the large quakes which seemed to follow them like magic. Then there are all the other phenomena. Or are there?

You're becoming like a mini farmer Keith - never the right weather!
To be honest you've got no chance. December has already been relatively
dry and as you say the ground is saturated. But that's winter on a
lowland clay soil for you.

It's the wetness thats causing me problems, didn't have this the last couple of winters. However, I did get a call today for another aeration and this is on a well drained lawn, so I have a plan B for tomorrow, or if I'm really lucky do them both.
