WORLD TROPICAL WEATHER HIGHLIGHTS AND OUTLOOK-
NORTHERN INDIAN OCEAN (INCLUDING BAY OF BENGAL, ARABIAN SEA)-
Tropical cyclone development is not expected within 24 hours.
SOUTHERN INDIAN OCEAN (INCLUDING WEST AUSTRALIA, MADAGASCAR)-
A tropical disturbance centered 680 miles west northwest of Diego Garcia
near 4.5S/62.9E is moving west southwest at 5 mph (8 kph). Development of a
tropical cyclone is likely within 24 hours.
WESTERN NORTH PACIFIC (INCLUDING THE SOUTH CHINA SEA)-
Typhoon Koppu, with 95 mph (153 kph) winds, is centered 345 miles north of
Iwo Jima near 30.5N/143.4E, moving north northeast at 15 mph (24 kph). Koppu
will turn northeast over water east of Japan, weakening and continuing to
lose tropical characteristics during the next 24 hours.
CENTRAL NORTH PACIFIC (INCLUDING THE HAWAIIAN ISLANDS)-
Tropical cyclone development is not expected within 24 hours.
EASTERN NORTH PACIFIC (INCLUDING THE MEXICAN PACIFIC COAST)-
Tropical cyclone development is not expected within 24 hours.
WESTERN SOUTH PACIFIC (INCLUDING THE CORAL SEA)-
Tropical cyclone development is not expected within 24 hours.

Tropical cyclone development is not expected within 24 hours.
ATLANTIC (INCLUDING CARIBBEAN SEA, GULF OF MEXICO)-
Tropical Storm Kate, with 70 mph (113 kph) winds, is centered 835 miles
southwest of Lajes, Azores, near 28.8N/37.6W, moving northeast at 20 mph (32
kph). Kate will continue northeast, slowing in forward speed but likely
strengthening to a hurricane during the next 24 hours.
A tropical disturbance centered near Cozumel, Mexico, is drifting north to
north northwest. Development of a tropical depression is likely within 24
hours.
