Amongst seaweed, pebbles & boulders - a seal. See http://www.theguardian.com/environme...ll-in-pictures Another seal was washed into a garden at Portreath. Luckily most of the seals here are born late Autumn, so they are fairly resilient by now.
I walked along the Newlyn Green this morning and a large hole has appeared, everything being sucked through a hole in the sea wall, where a number of large granite boulders are missing. A huge amount of damage done to sea defences in Cornwall since the new year. This is just the Newquay area. http://www.photobrookphotography.com/ (bit slow to load, but worth the wait.) Set to get very bad in Penzance for this evening's high tide. The the SSE wind is forecast to peak at F9 before veering SW, then set to give the north coast a battering on Wednesday. Graham Penzance Luckily my cottage is fine - http://www.turnstone-cottage.co.uk/ and has a great view of the action, a Weather Observer's dream location. |
