Despite ENSO neutral conditions and the equatorial Pacific having below-average temperatures throughout this period and also despite the PDO being strongly negative, the world somehow had temperatures which were the second warmest on record through June to November 2013. Only 2005, with an El Nino was warmer. How can this be explained if there is no underlying warming trend?
