Interesting - having never been to Penzance, I had no idea the line was
right next to the sea!

Actually trains are running between Newton Abbott and St Erth, with
buses between the latter and Penzance. According to Networkrail, the
line will open on the 3rd March - see
http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/servic...ons/71091.aspx. Whether it
will or not remains to be seen - the biggest issue will be the
signalling (assuming no ballast or track washed away).
