From Magic Seaweed:-
"Talking of rain and storms, this winter Madeira had the worst rains for
20 years, with serious flooding on 20th February that cost the lives of
over 40 people. "

Doh. Yes probably, was - in fact now I remember them talking about it
when I was out there a couple of years ago. I wished they'd put dates on
these reports, it was in the context of it being such an unusual winter
and how good the surf had been in Cornwall that made me assume it was
this winter.
