Frequent mainly slight rain showers since first light, the
latest moderate one falling between 0840Z and 0847Z. Glimpses of the sun only. Our rainfall for the month currently stands at over twice that of a normal April. Little change in the last three hours. The train of showers
keep coming with the odd moderate one, frequent enough to justify the reporting of double '8' in the past weather of the Synop. Brief bursts of sunshine, even while it's raining. There's quite a chunk of blue sky appearing to our east at present, reducing the overall cloud coverage to 6 oktas. Our local brook is full and fast flowing once more and is threatening to spill over into the woodland which already possesses its own lagoons. A fellow dog walker in his seventies remarked on how he's never known the ground to be so saturated this late in the spring before. Fewer showers this afternoon, although the only heavy one
of the day occurred 1602-1610Z and has brought the April rainfall total to 100.1mm, the fifth month to acquire triple digits out of the last seven. We are almost surrounded by Cb clouds but none of them is lurking close by at ob time. A faint rainbow was visible against some blue sky at 1707Z.
