I reckon it was south of Hayling Island, about 19:00. My first ever sighting of one, so I'm suitably thrilled :-) |

My first ever sighting of one, so I'm suitably thrilled :-) Fantastic, I've never yet seen one (ball lightning is 'my' rare event). Looking at the Netweather 1Km/5min radar, there is a small intense and discrete rain patch shown south of Hayling and east of Bembridge at around 18:45 moving SE, it is no more than 3Km square and shows precipitation intensity up to 96mm/hour, I reckon that's the one! -- Dave Fareham (W) |

It was an incredible sight watching them dancing around for what must have been 20 minutes or so. |

My first ever sighting of one, so I'm suitably thrilled :-) When I was working for the Isles of Scilly Steamship Co. my office had a clear view right across Mount's Bay and I once saw 2 waterspouts about 1 mile apart. No photographs of these, but we did have funnel clouds on consecutive days (17th & 18th August 2006) one of which passed almost directly over my house http://www.turnstone-cottage.co.uk/Aug2006Storms.PDF It is great to have exciting weather occasionally! It's gone flat again http://magicseaweed.com/Live-Sennen-Webcam/65/ also no deep blue skies today. Graham Penzance |

My first ever sighting of one, so I'm suitably thrilled :-) When I was a kid and used to go to the cinema to see a western, I'd always check the credits - this was in the days when they came at the start of the film - to look out for "special effects". When I saw that, I was pretty sure there was going to be a tornado somewhere in the film. Imagine my surprise when, one Sunday in July in the mid-1950s in Rushden, I saw a tornado in the distance just like the ones I'd seen in the movies. At the time, I didn't know they occurred in this country. The best display of funnel clouds that I saw apart from that one was at RAE Bedford in August, probably 1964, when there were five visible at the same time. -- Graham P Davis, Bracknell, Berks.
