Just to report my first 30 degrees of the summer and probably the
warmest day at this site (Locks Heath) since July 2006 (I will have to check later, as the instruments have changed this year). Screen Max so far: 30.2 deg C at 16:00 BST. Screen Min today: 17.3 deg C at 06:02 BST. Dewpoint 12.6, RH was lowest of the year at 15:54 BST, 32%. Solent, Thorney, Hurn or Heathrow etc. might exceed these values today, we shall see. Day 5 over 27 deg C, what a scorcher! -- Dave Fareham (W) |

Not numerically as warm as yesterday (29.1C) but felt much hotter as there was no wind. Maximum of 28.7C and with a DP of 20.6C and calm conditions under a blazing sun - well, it felt rather on the warm side. Had to abandon a site meeting this afternoon as people were starting to feel unwell due to the combination of heat, humidity, no shade and no breeze. One person fainted. That's the first time I have ever called a halt to a site meeting because of the heat. This warm spell so far has been continually very humid. -- Nick Gardner Otter Valley, Devon 20 m amsl http://www.ottervalley.co.uk |
