You know me as the last person in the world to unsettle anyone with recrimination or over officiousness but I have to inform you of a slight clerical error.

The Fastnet race is a once every two years event hence the term biennial. It was run last year:

Anyone know why the 2014 Sevenstar Round Britain and Ireland Race has significantly more than seven stars on its poster?

I stand corrected.

'The Race Committee have taken the decision to postpone the start of the Sevenstar Round Britain and Ireland Race 2014 by 21 hours. The new start time will be 0900 on the 11th August 2014.'

It would have been a filthy night for them.

It would have been a night at sea for vessels in the era before the Met Office. Have you read some of the stuff Admiral FitzRoy did to change all that?
He was one hell of a man.
