Default Vantage Pro question?

Am I correct in that a Vantage Pro console cannot receive data from a
Vantage Pro2 transmitter?

I have just bought a new VP2 (without console) but cannot pick up
transmissions on my old Vantage Pro monitor. Do I also need to get a new VP2
console?

Many thanks.

Original Vantage Pro compatibility?

Question Is the original Vantage Pro compatible with the Vantage Pro2?
Answer No it is not.
The Vantage Pro2 employs new frequency hopping technology and has a signal strength that is roughly 8 times stronger. The Vantage Pro 2 cannot acquire signals from the original Vantage Pro and visa versa.

Correct. A major change was made to the wireless protocol when the VP2 was
introduced. The VP2 signal is much stronger and has substantially better
range than the original VP, but because of its newer frequency-hopping
protocol there's no way that VP2 data can be picked up on a VP1 console.
