After weeks of haze, murky, milky and misty air, clear blue skies have
arrived today and I can now see the sea again! The hazy skies for the last few weeks had really weakened the sunshine but under today's clear blue the sunshine was strong and hot enough so that shade had to be sought this afternoon. A maximum of 21.5C after an overnight minimum of 13.9C and 9 hours of sunshine. DPs still reached 16C this afternoon despite the 'much fresher' forecast. All day maximums so far this month have been 20C. Monthly sunshine total now stands at 141 hours. Given the forecast, this month could end up after June, July & August, another 200+ hours month. Mean temperature (1st - 21st) is 17.2C; warmer than June & August. -- Nick Gardner Otter Valley, Devon 20 m amsl http://www.ottervalley.co.uk |
