Default Varied rainfall across south-east corner

I note that there is a variation in rainfall so far this month at sites close to mine. Today was noticeable again in that there seemed to be shower clouds in the near distance all day to my north and east - yet, so far, I've recorded just trace.

Wanstead: 20.7mm
Laindon: 53.8mm
Woodford Wells: 23.6mm
Southend: 55.8mm

And some official stations.
St James Park: 28.2mm
Northolt: 28mm
Heathrow: 27mm
Kenley: 34.8mm
Shoebury: 31.8mm
Manston: 24.2mm

Localised is the word and I have certainly caught some. But yesterday I
was over in Thurrock and the heavy stuff seemed widespread and lasted a
over an hour. I got home, just 8 miles away and just over 1mm with at
least 5mm where I had left. It's obvious from the radar just how heavy
and patchy these showers are and this makes them virtually unforecastable.
