You want *more*??
Wasn't that appalling enough?

If you do want something more then the word 'party' should be
capitalised as 'The Labour Party' is a proper noun, but that is
relatively trivial compared to the other howler.

Ain't we picky considering that it's in a ng not a formal letter or
document.

Picky?
Well you did ask for more, so don't complain when you get it.
I see you haven't commented upon the inexuseable 'they was'.

You need help.

And I mean that not in a sneering or sarcastic manner but
in a matter of fact manner.

Please Joe, try to sort yourself out......

"They was" is not inexuseable it's been used by many respected authors
such as: Shakespeare, chaucer, dickens and shaw. And no I don;t intend
to correct all my grammaritical and spelling mistakes as this is a
informal means of communication.

Secondly, if so at fault, what would you middle class liberals
write?

I do not claim or aspire to be a middle class liberal. But since
you ask, here is a list of what I would have written, had I been
so ill-advised as to write it at all.

"Come May next year, we'll see a Tory\UKIP government. The
Labour party"
'Party' should have a capital 'P'

"when they was"
'they' must be followed by 'were'. Or you could have said 'The
Labour Party when it was'

"in government ruined the NHS with PFI's"
There should not be an apostrophe in PFIs

"were"
should read 'where', or better, 'whereby'

"the taxpayer pays 10 times or more what a building is worth.
They allowed the wholesale invasion of this country by
foreigners for a millinenum"
misspelling of 'millennium'

"not seen since the Norman Invasion. Lastly they"
'it' would be better

"ruined the UK economy by spending hand over fist, and thinking
that the great bubble was not going to burst. The labour party"
'Labour Party' should have capital 'L' and capital 'P'

"have made themselves"
'has made itself' would be better

"unelectable for 20 may be"
maybe is all one word, and there should be a comma after 20 and
after 30.

"30 years. Thank God."
I doubt that God has anything to do with it.

Anne you missed out the 's' on the end of 'wait'. Missed out the full
stop after "Come May next year".

Must do better!

That's your problem. I only listed the errors because you (or
one of your alter egoes) asked for them to be pointed out.

Ah, the old 'Shakespeare did it so it must be OK' defence.

Back in Shakespeare's day the rules of grammar weren't as
well defined as they are today so of course he wrote things
differently to how we would do it.
'They was' is *wrong*. It just sounds *wrong*. It jars when
you say it. That's because it's *wrong*. End of.

This may be an informal means of communication but that
doesn't mean your English has to be so bad it's barely
intelligible and painful to read.

Oh and btw, you should be replying as 'Observer' not 'Trevor McDonald'.
If you must create all these identities in order to avoid killfiles at least
try and keep track of them. There's nothing worse than someone who
isn't in control of his own sock puppets!
You've got 3 running in this thread alone FFS.
That must be some kind of a record.

There's nothing wrong in literature, language changes all the time.
Dickens and Brenard shaw used "They was" and they only lived about a
century ago.

Yes, language changes all the time.
That's the whole point I was making. However we don't say
'they was' today, no matter how many dead writers may have done so in the
past.
Therefore it is *wrong*.

Charles Dickens died in 1870, so rather more than 100 years.
There is this thing called 'the internet' where you can look these things up
you know, to avoid looking like an idiot.
