Default [CC] Equal warmest October

In the GISS records, this October tied with 2005 for first place with an
anomaly of +0.76C. The 12-month period of Nov-Oct, also tied for first
place but with 2009-2010 at +0.67C.

Figures for the Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO) have just come in for
October and the Index is at +1.49 which is the highest monthly value
since May 2005 (+1.86) and the highest October value since 1997
(+1.61).

The average PDO value for the first 10 months of this year is +0.93;
the previous highest annual value is for 2003 (+0.97). Whilst it's
conceivable that this might be equalled or just exceeded, it will still
be barely half the value achieved in 1941 when it reached +1.99. The
figure for 1997, which helped kick off the following year's then record
global air temperatures was +1.46.
