After relatively quiet sea conditions yesterday, http://www.sennen-cove.com/today2.htm (all be it a dismal day) it's back to serious surfiness today.
The harbour wall is doing a disappearing act at times http://www.sennen-cove.com/harbourcam.htm , enough to attract some big wave tourists. For Cornwall set to build for another 18 hours yet. The biggest waves set to be in western & southwest Ireland this evening. http://magicseaweed.com/UK-Ireland-MSW-Surf-Charts/1/ Min of 4.0C last night, some very heavy hail showers recently. 4.9C @ 09:00 21.8mm of rain the the 24 hours to 09:00. Bit of weather action again. Graham Penzance |

The skies have been dramatic at times with some intense hail showers. Maximum gust (so far) of 66mph at Land's End and 58kt at St Ives, so distinctly blustery. Graham Penzance |

Graham Penzance When the swell gets to this size (7m currently at Sevenstones with wind up to F8) getting the lifeboat back into Sennen can become impossible, and it has to head back to Newlyn. This video is in a F6-7 with a nearer 5m swell, and it's still pretty interesting! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYQNB99ANDQ The white water is over Cowloe, which provides some protection to the harbour, although that's very limited at high tide. Bit OT I know, but weather related. Graham |
