2015/02/27 at 13:45. 7M. 7.28 S. 122.53 E. Flores Sea Actually it may not be so easy: An unnamed equatorial cyclone hit the island of Flores between 27 - 29 Apr 1973. Area affected Flores Sea, Indonesia. Lowest estimated central pressure 975 hPa. Maximum estimated mean winds 120 km/h. Rainfall, seas & storm surge damage. About 1500 people perished. Government buildings, schools, houses, dams and bridges destroyed in four districts of Flores. A 500 ton Timorese fishing vessel Oarbiru sunk in Flores Sea with most of 26 crew drowned. The storm crossed the equator but remained within the region where they seldom occur. http://www.bom.gov.au/cyclone/nt/Unn...ores_Sea.shtml |
