Despite a 7-day sunless spell from 10th till 16th the sunshine total ended up bang on the average. The snow statistics were interesting. In terms of days falling it was a lot less snowy than average. In terms of the number of days with 50% or more snow cover it was just about average while the amount of snow lying, as measured by the Eden Snow Index, made it a much more snowy month than the average for February. You pays your money and you takes your choice. Almost all of the snow lying in February actually fell at the end of January. -- Norman Lynagh Tideswell, Derbyshire 303m a.s.l. http://peakdistrictweather.org |
