![]() "Nick Gardner" wrote in message ... Len Wood Wrote in message: 17C at 1350 GMT and sunny in the swesterly. 11C and overcast here on SW Devon coast. The moist SW feed is a party pooper at this location. Should go inland and east but too much work to do in the garden. Anyway, the Scandi High forecast for next week should be excellent for this coast. It's all swings and roundabouts. Cloud broke up by mid-morning to unbroken sunshine and a maximum of 15C. You don't have to go to Gt Yarmouth to get the sunshine in these moist south-westerlies, Len. Just go to the other side of Dartmoor. This has been one of the sunniest starts to March I have recorded. Hi Nick, did a 14 mile stroll up and down the Exe today with some rellies. Nice easy walk in warm sunshine. Even saw a bikini on Exmouth beach which impressed me :-) Kite surfers were also showing their skills in the breeze! How wonderfully fit & healthy you must be, I can't imagine what distance you would have to cover to call it a walk, let alone a hike. Will, you are an inspiration to us all! Col |

But killfiles notwithstanding I will still comment if the post is ridiculous enough to warrant it. Is he trying to impress with his 14 miles 'strolls'? It's no big deal anyway, I've walked 14 miles (and more) as I'm sure everyone else on here has too. But 14 miles is a 'walk' and a long one too. A stroll is what you do round your local park. Col But Will can't just say he went for a walk, like anyone else would he has to boast about how long it was and how effortlessly easy to complete. |

Mind you, on that score, addled larry will probably say that I'm you as well as Reverse Reg next, as we've said the same thing. |

Col Will - The Stalin of USW. LOL. plonk :-) And to reply to Col, yes I am fit and well and not overweight and also very fortunate to be so. The 14 miles was along a flat estuary path/track where no real exertion was required. An easy stroll. In contrast to that I did a shorter 11 mile walk on high Dartmoor the next day (yesterday) and that was far harder with some steep hills and rough tussock grass/bog and no paths. Feel fine today but the weather is so - ****ty rain/fog I will spend the day catching up on inside stuff and just do a couple of miles with the dog later. As you say, it's no big deal and 14 miles on a level surface could easily be considered a stroll, whist 5 miles in the hills could be demanding and strenuous. Who cares? Each to our own. More schoolboy bickering on this site than in the playgound. |

Loud, cheap, and tacky. Never went a second time and would much rather not be there. -- AS http://minnies.opcop.org.uk/ and cannot recall walking more than twenty kilometres |
