RMK: After the early sun the sky clouded over by 0630z. Slight
rain started around 0815z. It's not a lot but enough to wet
the roads. We usually turn the heating off around this date
but there's nothing to encourage me to do it yet this year!

Norman, at 0745z as I watched the news and drank my coffee, I saw
that it was snowing outside. When I went out later it was B***** cold.
Ordered more heating oil this morning.

Yesterday, the Met Office decommissioned the snow depth sensors for the season
at their automatic weather stations. This is to prevent spurious readings being
caused by growing grass and debris. Maybe a bit premature this year!
