So head on down! http://www.sunset-surf.com/surf-webcam
Bit fresher last night. Minimum of 13.0C in Penzance, 16.8C @ 09:00 with a F2-3 WSW wind. Following the political correctness found in a couple of other threads, I would like to point out that the sea is a dangerous place, and therefore I realise that I might be encouraging people to paddle through powerful Atlantic waves, thus putting their lives at risk. However, if they kill themselves it will save the NHS money in the long term, and they would have emjoyed the last moments of life. Well worth it I'd say. Graham Penzance |

All fairly thin, but enough to block out the sun. Maximum temperature 20.0C in sunshine around 13:00. So far this month (norms for 1981-2010) Mean Temp 14.5C (-0.4) Rainfall 42.3mm (61%) Sunshine (Camborne, up to 26th) 199 hours. Graham Penzance |

Just beat me to it Nick! I expected it to be high today, after all it's still humid, a warm sector type setup, and plenty of 'white' low cloud, but I've never seen 10.7 before on Scilly. I know it's near the longest day, and conditions were perfect for high UV but . . Does anyone know if there's a ozone hole overhead? On Spotlight yesterday I was told how much fresher today would feel. It has been a warm and humid day, only tempered by a sea breeze that blew in from 11:45 onwards. This did not stop the DPs rising to peak at 17.2C at 13:30. Yes, it's certainly been humid. The recent high humidity and sunshine has worked wonders for the SST. http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=62107 I was involved with the Mazey Day celebrations in Pz today, am tied up tomorrow (not in a sexual way) but Monday I'm out at Sennen for a bodyboarding session. 4-6' and light offshore wind forecast - couldn't be better (hopefully). A good time is guaranteed for all - as Sgt Pepper would say.. If I sound light hearted it's probably down to today's celebrations. Graham Penzance |

I've just checked and the off-shore 1 metre depth SSTs for this part of Lyme Bay are now between 16.0C and 16.5C; a bit warmer nearer the shore. I suspect the SSTs will rise even quicker next week and should reach +20C here nearer the shore. As the SSTs rise the sea breeze changes in character from Spring through to autumn. In Spring it drops the temperature and humidity and has a cool and dry feel. Today with the SSTs +16C the sea breeze is starting to take on a more humid feel. By late August/early September with SSTs 18C to +20C, the sea breeze can bring very humid air with mist and cloud forming on the cliff tops - something reminiscent of the Trade Winds I've experienced. -- Nick Gardner Otter Valley, Devon 20 m amsl http://www.ottervalley.co.uk |
