Have to go back to the 22nd June for a maximum here to be below 20C.
Much warmer than expected today - up to 26C, but clear and fresh and most pleasant. Dave, S.Essex |

This weekend, when the golfers at St Andrews were struggling against foul conditions of wind and rain yet the weather at Lord's was benign, I was thinking about how varied our island's weather could be over a comparatively short distance. It might have been better had conditions at the two places been reversed, Then the golfers could have had fair weather, while the Test would have lost so much time that England would have been in no danger of defeat. -- I'm not paid to implement the recognition of irony. ![]() Have to go back to the 22nd June for a maximum here to be below 20C. Much warmer than expected today - up to 26C, but clear and fresh and most pleasant. Lucky you, we've had 14 days since 22nd June below 20c, which includes 14.1c on the 22nd and 14.4c on the 8th July! July has gone downhill since the very warm start, mean temp now close to the 1981-2010 average of 15.6c. Sun hours are not great either, averaging around 4.5 hours a day. We've only managed 8 dry days out of the 21 so far. Ah well maybe Summer will return next month ![]() Graham (Weston Coyney) |
