Colin Youngs writes UK rainfall totals in 24 hours to 18.00 UTC on Saturday http://tinyurl.com/ahsgjwh Farnborough, Brize Norton and High Wycombe 10 mm, Odiham 12 mm, Holbeach, Wainfleet, Benson and Shoeburyness 14 mm, Marham 16 mm, Herstmonceux 18 mm, Weybourne and Wattisham 23 mm, Manston 30 mm. It would be interesting to know where the highest totals were for the event, when summed over the two rainfall days. One can see that the highest totals after 6pm Friday were generally further north and/or east than the highest totals before that time. I think only Farnborough appears on the lists of wettest places for both rainfall days, and there the greater part of the rain fell before 6pm on Friday. -- I'm not paid to implement the recognition of irony. I recorded 18mm here, but that all fell in the 24hrs to 9am Saturday. -- Paul Hyett, Cheltenham |
