Default Drought continues in S.Essex

No measurable rainfall for two weeks now and today's forecast of rain
this afternoon seems to be fading away rapidly with the radar showing it
diminishing by the time it gets to the east of London. Max temp of 24.5C
earlier in the sunshine.

This was a good thing, as it's enabled Surrey to have enough time on the
field to beat Essex.

Things were getting rather parched here again but all that has changed
now as 25.6 mm of rain fell between 7:45 and 11:50 today.

It was that 'warm' torrential stuff with a bit of thunder thrown in.
Then the sun came out and the DP shot up to 20.3C making if feel quite
tropical this afternoon.

A burst of rain at 2pm didn't register on my AWS - temporarily damping the ground. July was wet in Wanstead but total rain for the summer currently stands at 88mm, 61% of JJA average.
