In mid-Devon we seem to have been very lucky and escaped much of the heavy rain today that has affected southern coastal counties, here in Bradninch we have only had 2.0mm.
Eastbourne must be pretty miserable as I estimate that there has been 41mm of rain there since midnight. Much of the heavy rain that moved up from the SE seems to be less intense as it tracks into East Anglia, although Cornwall is still getting some 16mm/hr pixels. Out of interest Haytor Vale is currently number 3 in the wettest places list today with 39.9mm till 1445 UTC at a guess. I'm sure our turn will come later today and overnight. |

No thunder definitely heard. Eastbourne had 78 mm in 12 hours according to an observer on UKWW. All eyes now to the developing convergence zone over Cornwall set to provide many hours of heavy rain as it trundles slowly east. I suspect that will be the main news item tomorrow. Will -- http://www.lyneside.demon.co.uk/Hayt...antage_Pro.htm Will Hand (Haytor, Devon, 1017 feet asl) --------------------------------------------- It's certainly been wet in west Cornwall. I recorded 3.8mm in the early hours, then a further couple of mm around 08:30. That band got much heavier as it trundled NW towards Cape Cornwall. Rain rate 43mm per hour at Land's End around 09:00 This afternoons just been Wet Wet Wet, particularly around Falmouth/Redruth by all accounts. At times it's been really quite dark. The crowd at the Minack stuck it out, though it must be very difficult for the actors. Graham Penzance - where it's now officially a wet summer with 2 weeks to go. (OT) but 100 porpoises spotted by Marine Discovery http://marinediscovery..co.uk/blog/s...5-daily-update (highly recommended) off Penzance on recent days. Also, a neighbours boat on tow (again!) http://www.cornishman.co.uk/Penlee-l...ail/story.html |

I even had the camera set up last night ready for the lightning, such disappointment, especially as our Itv west country almost guaranteed thunder. I think Bob the forecaster will take a hammering this evening. Alan www.westwiltsweather.co.uk |

No heavy rain here, just drizzle this morning and some more this afternoon after a bit of sunshine. Heard thunder and saw lightning overnight but it remained in the distance. A total of 4.3 mm today. -- Nick Gardner Otter Valley, Devon 20 m amsl http://www.ottervalley.co.uk |

Approx 30mm at Falmouth so far, no sign of it stopping in the near future. We've got a weather warning all day tomorrow, though it looks basically dry from dawn to me. (In Penzance that is!)
