uk.sci.weather (UK Weather) (uk.sci.weather) For the discussion of daily weather events, chiefly affecting the UK and adjacent parts of Europe, both past and predicted. The discussion is open to all, but contributions on a practical scientific level are encouraged. |

Yesterdays storms in Maldon Essex produced 38.2mm in my Vantage Pro2 rain gauge but the 5" gauge only recorded 22.8mm. Rather disappointing as I have recently calibrated the T/B. At one stage I did see the rate at 238mm/hr! It was hammering down at that stage I expect the T/B got carried away and over did the tipping!

Colin How rigidly mounted is the VP2, it is possible that vibration could have caused additional T/B tips. Normally a 5" gauge collects more. Alan |
