My question: WIll this be a clean install and wipe everything else off? Firefox/Thunderbird, Office, and all my little weather diddies? Thanks -- Keith (Southend) "Weather Home & Abroad" http://www.southendweather.net Twitter:@LawnscienceEssx Hi Keith. No it doesn't do a clean wipe. I've 2 laptops, a Windows 7 and 8.1, and I used the Windows 7 for the upgrade to Windows 10. So far no issues other than familiarity. Old apps still there; bookmarks, etc. I'll wait a while before upgrading the newer laptop - let the kinks of Windows 10, whatever they are, be ironed out first.... Joe ================= Windows 10 installed fine for me, upgrade from 8.1 . Go for it, it looks a nice OS. Will Thanks for the heads up... Back up first though, of course. Then keep your fingers crossed. Been some reports of upgrade going tits up: http://www.siliconbeat.com/2015/08/0...-pcs-unusable/ Also this little problem was reported a few days ago: http://www.theguardian.com/technolog...ss-reboot-loop Mm, best back up then choose a day when I have all the time in the world and a bottle of JD ;-) My only problem after the install (and restart) was that Outlook mail would not send. The solution is to open up Command prompt (admin) and then issue " sfc /scannow " command. That does a system file scan and repairs and puts files back in the right place. Worked fine after that. This is common to other systems too where a file system check is a good thing to do anyway. Good luck, but I think you'll be fine!
