Unless we get some wind, today is going to be warm (over 21C). Sun-facing curtains drawn in anticipation. Evenings and nights getting quite chilly now though, as Ken has already mentioned, so feeling a bit Autumnal, even though it's lovely out there now. Some North Sea murk tomorrow by the looks of it. Agreed, but there is still a lot of "softness" in the air. We also have September to come which is our driest month and still pretty warm. (Just 79 mm on average and up to 17.4C average max. ). Things change in October (200 mm average rainfall and 13.7C average max.). You're right about September Will. It is more of a continuation of summer down 'ere with days frequently above 20C even through to the end of the month and you even get a few days above 20C well into October in most years. The switch from the September dryness to the October rains is very noticeable. It is the best time to go down the beach for a swim with the sea warm and the sun softened, and the beaches quiet. Talking of going for a swim.... Sun's out! -- Nick Gardner Otter Valley, Devon 20 m amsl http://www.ottervalley.co.uk |

I know, I'm able to return to Sennen after avoidint it for 6 weeks, when it's just too busy. Talking of going for a swim.... Sun's out! Nick Gardner Otter Valley, Devon Just been for a swim with the family at Perranuthnoe. Even that 'locals' beach is getting very popular now. Tide coming in (low 13:00 here) & a very, very light onshore breeze meant some nice 'warm pools' of water close in. Followed by a drink at The Cabin http://www.thecabinbeachcafe.co.uk/ . Some medium Cu on the Lizard convergence zone this afternoon didn't affect the sunshine on the beach Max of 20.3C in Penzance today - scraping back up to near normal. Graham Penzance |
