I am almost ceratin that I never explicityly loaded these drivers so I think they are available from within either Windows 8 or 10; the PC came with Windows 8 originally. In any case the Prolific drivers can be found online. I have just checked and it is working fine. ======================================== Sure, it's always worth trying it before concluding that something new is needed - Win8/10 etc are getting much better at finding drivers automatically than ever used to be the case with older versions of Windows. But Prolific in particular went through a phase where they were very slow to write new drivers especially for their older USB chipsets. To the best of my knowledge, some of the older ones have still never been updated for Win8/10 compatibility - maybe there's some technical issue as to why it can't be done. JGD Looking at the Prolific website it does state: NOTE: Windows 8/8.1/10 are NOT supported in PL-2303HXA and PL-2303X EOL chip versions. Run PL2303 CheckChipVersion tool program in Windows XP/Vista/7 to check chip version. Windows XP, 2000, 98 and Windows ME driver technical support is discontinued. Prolific recommends to use PL-2303HXD (HX Rev D) or PL2303TA chip. http://www.prolific.com.tw/US/ShowPr...id=225&pcid=41 Keith (Southend) using google groups on Justop Just tried again testing each COM Port 1 to 10 individually, no joy. I'll be in touch John :-) Keith (Southend) Must admit for £90 this Justop does more than I thought it would. Well spotted Dave. http://www.amazon.co.uk/JUSTOP-Windo.../dp/B00ZFQQIK0 As usual had to add the English (UK) so the Keyboards keys are in the right place '"' '@' ;-) Imported my Firefox bookmarks in and browsing no problem. But must get the weather station running as this was the primary reason as it should pay for itself in a year with what electricity I am using having my old PC on 24/7 Keith (Southend) |

FTDI USB to RS232 adapter arrived from Prodata and all seems to be
working fine on my little Justop device running Windows 10. I think Weather UNderground and the WOW data is now also loading. Don't these things take an age to sort out? Now the test of time begins... -- Keith (Southend) "Weather Home & Abroad" http://www.southendweather.net Twitter:@LawnscienceEssx |

I've got a feeling that some of these operate a 'sin bin' principle where they want to see several hours of good data before reinstatement. Talking of things taking ages. I'm in the process of painting 2 Stevenson Screens - there's a lot of wood there. -- George in Swanston, Edinburgh, 580'asl www.swanstonweather.co.uk www.eppingweather.co.uk www.winter1947.co.uk |

I guess you'll need to paint more often up north :-) I think it uploading says updated 13 minutes ago (when I looked) http://www.wunderground.com/personal...d?ID=IESSEXSO1 http://www.southendweather.net/Weath...ry_Monitor.htm I turned the monitor(Tv with HDMI cable in this case) off to check it all works in the background, then I noticed it hadn't updated for an hour on line... Going into Windows 10 settings I noticed that the PC (Justop) sleep mode was set to 10 minutes, I have now changed this to 'never', the last option. One reason I wanted to give myself plenty of time to iron out these things. All good fun (when it works!) -- Keith (Southend) "Weather Home & Abroad" http://www.southendweather.net Twitter:@LawnscienceEssx |
