Just a few drops so far today, barely enough to damp the ground but it
counts. Have the murders happened on darkened streets? It would make
an interesting PhD project: Does the murder rate increase during wet,
dull Augusts?



It might be that wet Augusts mean that families spend more time at home
together, which might lead to more murders resulting from people getting
on each other's nerves.

Without wishing to sound like Lawrence it's not much fun to see your
area where you have always lived degenerating. I would have loved to
live in Devon despite all the rain and we've had that here this summer!!

But there's perceived degeneration everywhere, Dave. Am possibly talking rubbish here but people in Devon probably think their area has 'gone downhill' in the past 20 years. It is a human condition to think the past was always better.

Like Nick said - no murders since 2005. There is either a murder or a
very serious assault every week here in this part of Essex. There's
downhill and there's downhill!
