After replacing the 2 AA batteries in the sensor of my AWS it is no longer connecting to the main unit. I get the 4-second red light after replacing the batteries but it will not synchronise.
When I replaced the 3 AA batteries on the main console the station remained active - I wonder if it draws a current from the PC it is connected to? Anyway do I need to disconnect the lead from the PC to enable the console to 'switch off' and reset? The unit has been working, uninterrupted, since May 2013 - so it has had a good run in terms of battery life. Is it possible though that because these units are relatively cheap it is now a good idea to get a new one. Apart from windspeed measurements I can continue my daily readings using manual instruments -- ------------------------------ This email was sent by a company owned by Pearson plc, registered office at 80 Strand, London WC2R 0RL. Well, it worked after I did that anyway! I think I disconnected from the PC as well - after closing Cumulus down. |

Generally disconnecting and reconnecting the various components sorts it. Despite the odd glitch here and there mine has now been running for 7 years - not bad for £80 !
