Well done to The Guardian for tackling this.

‘guesstimates’, marking them with an asterisk, and claiming,
wrongly, that they were the previous day’s sunshine figures..."

The same applies to the Telegraph, whose figures often bear little
resemblance to reality. One would like to think that they would follow
the Guardian's lead, but it seems unlikely. The situation is even worse
in the Sunday edition where, presumably because of the earlier print
time, every single item of data - not just sunshine hours - usually
seems to have an asterisk attached.
