This is more likely to be a result of early snow cover in Northern Russia and Siberia. Although it is fair to say that a colder Continent than the last few years might actually make any Easterlies cold ones for a change! Dave This was pointed out by the Times weatherman, Paul Simons, who bothered to look back at the previous earliest arrival which was followed by an unusually mild winter, while one of the latest arrivals, not until early December, was followed by a cold winter. He also mentioned that lots of berries on bushes and trees were a reflection of the previous growing season. That's giving the headline writers the bird! Malcolm |
