RMK: A bleak morning. Overnight snow showers have left 2 cm
of lying snow. It's pretty wet stuff and the road is only slushy.
For much of the night the wind has been relatively light but
at about 0430z it suddenly started freshening from NNW with
max gusts of 46 knots occurring between 0525z and 0535z. The
strengthening wind was accompanied by a rise in temperature
from around zero to around +1.5 deg

RMK: The first snow shovelling session of the season this morning!
It's a fine sunny morning with 2cm of lying snow. I had to drive
into Bakewell this morning and was surfprised to find that none of
the roads had been gritted. At least, I could see no evidence of
any gritting. The roads were pretty bad in places with a mix of
snow, frozen slush and re-frozen mel****er. Given the weather
situation I'm sure that the appropriate authorities were given
adequate warning by whoever provides their weather service. Also,
the roads were already affected by snow and slush well before
midnight.
09-09z: Tx 5.8 (1200z) Tn -0.2 (0350z) RR 12.1
15-09z: Tg -1.9 (under snow) 00-24z: Sun 2.2

RMK: Cirrus has spread across from NNW through the afternoon.
There's still 2cm of lying snow and with a max temp of only +1.1
there's been very little thaw today. It's freezing hard again
already.
