Tantalising stuff, dave. Clearly there has been some short-term cooling during the past decade but only time will tell whether or not this persists long enough to be picked up by the longer-term running means. I suppose the shorter-term means will pick up random fluctuations, i.e the noise in the system, whereas the longer-term means are a better indicator of real variations in climate. -- Norman Lynagh Tideswell, Derbyshire 303m a.s.l. http://peakdistrictweather.org Mind you the short term fluctuations are surely just local (NW Europe) as we seem to be the only part of the globe to see this. -- Keith (Southend) "Weather Home & Abroad" http://www.southendweather.net Twitter:@SS9Weatherman |

I haven't updated this graph for several years but, with the December 2015 CET available, I thought now would be a good time to update it. Using the Central England Temperature Series (CET) Monthly Mean, I have plotted the rolling averages over the following period lengths. Red Line - 1 Year Green Line - 5 Years Purple Line - 10 Years Dark Blue Line - 20 Years Orange Line - 30 Years Light Blue Line - 50 Years Pink Line - 100 Years The graph starts at Dec 1969, so the Pink 100 years line effectively covers the whole period from 01-Jan-1870 through to 31-Dec-2015. The graph in A3 PDF format can be viewed by clinking the link below on MyCloud. Hopefully this will prompt a healthy, but polite debate. http://WDMyCloud.device2880223.wd2go...3c94c7d0d6a696 Doesn't work for me-and yes, I am logged in etc. |

Not sure what the comment "I am logged in etc" means since I didn't have to log in to anything. Not unless LastPass logged me into something automatically. -- Graham P Davis, Bracknell, Berks. Firefox, IE, and Google Chrome all come up with an error and don't show the graph. :-( Len Wembury ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here are a few more details on how it works for me on four different viewers: FF brings up a panel giving the option to open the document (with Okular as the default application) or save it. Chromium just pops up with a "save as" window. Qupzilla's pop-up window says it's an unknown file and offers a choice of "open..." or "save file" buttons. Konqueror offers the same options as FF. So all of them work as they should although Chromium is the least user-friendly of the bunch in not offering an "open..." button. That might just be down to my settings though I can't see an alternative setting. -- Graham P Davis, Bracknell, Berks. [Retd meteorologist/programmer] http://www.scarlet-jade.com/ I wear the cheese.
