Default [WR&OBS] Copley, blowing snow

Hi, All,

COPLEY MET. OFFICE SITE manual readings 09hr 14th January, Wind N 24 knots (force 6) gusting 30 knots. Visibility 200 metres, sky obscured, snow&blowing snow. Temperature -1°C Humidity 96%. Barometer (adjusted to sea level) 1002mb rising. Maximum today -0.5°C Last night's minimum -0.7°C Grass minimum -1.5°C (under snow) 30cm earth 4.4°C Past 24 hours' precipitation 3.7mm (snow converted) Sun today 0.0hr Highest gust today 36 knots (41mph).
Snow depth 5cm

Just 5cm but coming down sideways on a force 6 northerly and increasing quite quickly. Road clearance hasn't got going as well as usual, perhaps concentrating on main roads atm so we'll stay put for now.
Screens frozen shut, rain gauge funnel frozen on, locks frozen - usual winter problems that we have got used to not having for a week or two!

Gosh they are very efficient up there!

Disappointed this morning to see our main road icy, but it was driveable.
Expect the gritters to be out later today given the snow and ice yellow
warning just issued for Devon. Lovely warm sunshine and 4C now :-)

It is fairly widespread today, but only sticking at higher altitudes.

I am in the lowlands near the North York Moors and it has been snowing
here all morning. Earlier on it was sticking too but it has now warmed
up to 2C and the snow is melting as fast as it falls. Some pretty big
flakes though so if it gets cold again it could be "interesting".

I have carnations, pelargoniums and snowdrops in flower outside. I
expect the former two are ruined now. Daffodils not quite open yet.
