Franklin P Jones John , Did you ever hear of Sir Atthol Oakeley. He was a royal blue blooded heavyweight wrestler who lived in Lynton the village just above Lynmouth North Devon. Back in September 1988 I was on a late summer holiday in Appledor and of course visited Doone/Ridd country in Exmoor and there in the visitors car park was a National Trust bookstand here I purchased Sir Atthol's expose of the real Doone/ Ridd saga. He claims that Lorna and John Ridd really did exists and were not R D Blackmoor fictional characters. Sir Athol who claimed to have Royal lineage was also a British champion wrestler in the 1920/30's Here's his Wiki entry. Interesting character. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atholl_Oakeley |
