Default Is this storm Gertrude?

Is it to late to name this "unnamed" storm now?

I say that because a hyperlink has been added to the "Gertrude" entry on the Met Office Storm Centre. Perhaps they were going to, but now they've changed their mind.

I think the Americans were calling it Jonas.
Hence the foolishness and confusion in naming mid lat storms.

And the Germans are calling it Karin, and if it goes through Scandinavia the Norwegian Met Service will name it. High farce.

The common man in Copley is calling it Judas, among other things. Whatever the Yanks say is alright with us, they got it first!

The Weather Channel was, having unilaterally decided to introduce a naming system for winter storms since the 2012-13 winter, no doubt simply for publicity. Neither the NWS nor most other American meteorologists have adopted it. In fact there is a lot of opposition.

Absolutely, one storm, one name. Wherever it forms they get to name it, end off.

So what happens when a hurricane goes extra-tropical and is significant
enough to be given one of our names? Does it get one or does it continue
to be referred to as 'the remnants of hurricane X' as now?
