Is it to late to name this "unnamed" storm now?
I say that because a hyperlink has been added to the "Gertrude" entry on the Met Office Storm Centre. Perhaps they were going to, but now they've changed their mind. https://xmetman.wordpress.com/2016/0...torm-gertrude/ |

Len ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Weather Channel was, having unilaterally decided to introduce a naming system for winter storms since the 2012-13 winter, no doubt simply for publicity. Neither the NWS nor most other American meteorologists have adopted it. In fact there is a lot of opposition. Stephen. |

Hence the foolishness and confusion in naming mid lat storms. So what happens when a hurricane goes extra-tropical and is significant enough to be given one of our names? Does it get one or does it continue to be referred to as 'the remnants of hurricane X' as now? -- Col Bolton, Lancashire 160m asl Snow videos: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3QvmL4UWBmHFMKWiwYm_gg |
