Yes. The near continent would be colder on a significant number of occasions, meaning that a channel low *in general* would perhaps not now produce the snowfall that they once did (my general point). I take Freddie's point though. An identical synoptic situation to this one may have produced a similar lack of snowfall, say 40 years ago. However, the comparison in terms of temps would not be identical. With GW there would be an increase in base temperatures (0.3C-0.4C in 40 years??). Could this be have been enough to tip 2015 cold rain to 1975 snow in some parts of the SE, with temps around 3-4C, as we had yesterday?
