uk.sci.weather (UK Weather) (uk.sci.weather) For the discussion of daily weather events, chiefly affecting the UK and adjacent parts of Europe, both past and predicted. The discussion is open to all, but contributions on a practical scientific level are encouraged. |

The very unstable air continues to give a lot of rain (& hail) but also sunny spells. Yesterday afternoon saw a dry slot with sunny spells. Little wind and a benign sea (wow - what a change), we had the typical 'centre of a low' VG visibility and colouring.
Todays forecast for Pz show's cloudy wet conditions, but that doesn't describe the weather - deep blue bits with bright sunshine & heavy showers. (We've just missed one which passed to the east) Yet more hail overnight. Min 5.6C, rainfall to 09:00 8.3mm 138.2mm of rain here so far this month 101% of the January norm. 4 days 20mm. Unstable air at this time of year gives us some really impressive downpours. Still, some very attractive Cb. Roll on April, when all the daytime showers are inland, and the sunny coastal strip returns. Graham Penzance |

Graham Penzance After some pleasant morning sunshine, visibility deteriorated markedly as the cloud rolled in from the east around noon. Really a bit bleak for a while as the wind picked up. Still, got some good photos of surprisingly large clean surf at Praa Sands around 10:30. A good clean swell in a F3 offshore ENE wind. Some great surfing conditions. http://www.easterling.freeserve.co.uk/pss.html 1st air frost of the winter Monday night? Graham Penzance |
