There is a notable duststorm advancing southwards over western Algeria. This
afternoon's noaa19 overpass shows the extent, the line of advancing dust is well over 1000 miles long. Thick dust is shown in yellow, thinner raised dust in pale blue in this false colour image using spectral channel 4 minus channel 5. http://www.woksat.info/etcyb15/yb15-1403-i-apt-s.html -- Bernard Burton Wokingham Berkshire. It can also be seen on the loop at http://en.sat24.com/en/af Be quick, though, before the daylight is lost. From the few SYNOPs that are available it looks as though the surface winds are 20-25 knots. -- Norman Lynagh Tideswell, Derbyshire 303m a.s.l. http://peakdistrictweather.org |
