Well there it is now offically named in the Met Eireann forecast for tonight...

"Storm Jake will feed down a core of strong to gale force winds westerly overland tonight - stormy infact for coastal areas of the west and southwest. Organised bands of heavy showers moving down in the flow too, merging to longer spells of rain, sleet and snow - all with the added risk of thunder. Snow accumulations are likely, especially later in the night for the northern half of the country, as well as for higher ground elsewhere. Cold, with lowest temperatures of -1 to +2 degrees Celsius, risk of frost and ice too."

Thunder and lightning reported around south Mayo. Doesn't seem especially windy outside at the moment with gusts 23mph Shannon and 20mph Dublin.

Meanwhile Donegal location gusting 33knots...38mph.

Them?

I have yet to learn how the Met. Office coped in their association with Jimmy Saville's Minders but I had gathered that one way or another they had left the fold.

But what do I know?
I have only just learned today that Lawrence Jenkins and Paul Garvey have inadvertently been walking miles in each other's shoes. It's a narrow minded world isn't it?

Yes, but that name was chosen months ago (by MÉ), and announced last
October. The MÉ designated it as a storm because it was predicted to
potentially cause disruption to parts of Ireland. Whether it will also
affect the UK as well was/isn't relevant to their decision.

Okay its the BBC-not so much UKMO and they are even more ideologically driven by AGW caused storms and the threat it presents to good poor folk who have been ill-informed due to lack of education opportunities, forced to become junkies and **** heads; nay people struggling to make their weary way in mini-cabs to a local food bank as they add more fat to their emaciated 23 stone bodies.

Only ze capitalism in the human history ya..... can cause such abominations

Not sure Michael how you find or equate me and PG Tips in the same way. he really isn't my cup of tea. The only thing I would say though, is the PG Tips talks out of his spout. Sadly for though, I'm not sure where that leaves you. but here's a start

Blowing a howling gale here (Dublin)...well not really.

I still can't find any reference on Met Eireann site to Storm Jake although media claiming it was named by them. Checking their twitter feed too and nothing there. Left left a comment for them.

Could be they're battening down the hatches around Glasnevin in anticipation!

Strange call if it was Met Eireann naming this as forecast is for strong and gusty winds only and an Orange level warning. Nothing storm-like!

JC

An Orange warning for Ireland sounds a bit sinister. Beware of the ghost of King Billy.

That is one of the most appallingly badly written public forecasts I have read from anybody in a very long time.

It gets the message across though, Stephen. We've had a lot of weather overnight!!!

You should try reading forecasts from James Madden (in-exactaweather)! Actually, you shouldn't! Anyway, he's not a weather forecaster....

True, Tudor, and after the recent general election here, and the decimation of the Labour party, I don't see much use for Red warnings!!
