Default Storm Jake?

Well there it is now offically named in the Met Eireann forecast for tonight...

"Storm Jake will feed down a core of strong to gale force winds westerly overland tonight - stormy infact for coastal areas of the west and southwest. Organised bands of heavy showers moving down in the flow too, merging to longer spells of rain, sleet and snow - all with the added risk of thunder. Snow accumulations are likely, especially later in the night for the northern half of the country, as well as for higher ground elsewhere. Cold, with lowest temperatures of -1 to +2 degrees Celsius, risk of frost and ice too."

That is one of the most appallingly badly written public forecasts I have read from anybody in a very long time.

Stephen.

Read reports of 100+km gusts in Shannon and other Western areas overnight. Windy too in Dublin. Trees down and power cuts. Snow fell inland with sleet/reason mix in coastal areas.

Storm Jake having an impact....

It gets the message across though, Stephen. We've had a lot of weather overnight!!!

You should try reading forecasts from James Madden (in-exactaweather)! Actually, you shouldn't! Anyway, he's not a weather forecaster....

I have tried but as you say he is not a forecaster so can be readily dismissed. His grasp of English is even worse that the above and one might as well ask one's plumber.

That warning might get the kitchen-sink message across but there's no reason that it cannot be grammatical and readable as well!

Stephen.

Them?

I have yet to learn how the Met. Office coped in their association with Jimmy Saville's Minders but I had gathered that one way or another they had left the fold.

But what do I know?
I have only just learned today that Lawrence Jenkins and Paul Garvey have inadvertently been walking miles in each other's shoes. It's a narrow minded world isn't it?

Not sure Michael how you find or equate me and PG Tips in the same way. he really isn't my cup of tea. The only thing I would say though, is the PG Tips talks out of his spout. Sadly for though, I'm not sure where that leaves you. but here's a start
