Tideswell, Derbyshire - Friday 4th March 2016
----------------------------------------------------------------

0630z 27005kt 2000 -SN 8St004 -00.1/-00.2 988
RMK: Heavy rain started around 2130z yesterday evening. It
turned to sleet around 2230z and probaby to snow around
0030z as there was a sharp fall in temp at that time.
The temp didn't fall below zero till 0625z. There's 4cm
of lying snow but it's pretty wet stuff. Roads and
pavements are slushy but it is starting to settle properly
now that the temp has dropped below zero.

13cm lying snow. By a considerable margin it's the heaviest
fall this winter. The temp has been rising very slowly from
-0.4 at 0800z to the current value of +0.4. We had a visit
from the snow plough at about 1015z but the road needs it
more now than it did then.

RMK: Slight to moderate snow all afternoon. It's been
snowing now for about 16 hours, with another 12 hours or so
to come. With the temp creeping up to a high of +1.1 in
the afternoon there's been a bit of melting but not much.
At the moment there's 16cm of lying snow. Treated roads
are clear but untreated roads and pavements are affected
by hard-packed snow and slush. It'll be a real mess if it
freezes overnight.

Very strange day here Norman, 8 hours of continuous snow and only ever
managed 1cm lying on the ground.
Looking at the webcams, for Tideswell, Buxton and Cat & Fiddle it looked
like a different world.
Snow ended around 15.00, the temp between 0.2c to 1.6c for the whole 8
hours.
Cloud starting to break up now, current temp 0.8c
