No big drop in temperature here, partly because it never got hot, partly because the colder air has struggled to get this far SW. So on many beaches, 17 - 18C when it was hot 'up country' Today, with no wind, 16C or so on the beaches has felt little different.
Pics (2 of mine 1 not) http://www.easterling.freeserve.co.uk/15.html note the very calm conditions. The SST anomaly pattern is certainly on the change http://polar.ncep.noaa.gov/sst/rtg_l...maly_oper0.png also the mid channel summer cold pool is back. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Reursst.gif It alway appears late Spring early summer. Mixing in the double tide area bringing cold water to the surface? Graham Pwnzance |

![]() Graham Pwnzance should be Penzance - perhaps that's the Welsh spelling. It was cool for 1 day (yesterday) when it only reached 14.4C in Penzance. Graham |

Aye, it was a bit on the cool side yesterday but given my fairly sheltered location from that 'northerly' wind and loads of sunshine it was still a hammock day and lovely down on the beach with the south-facing cliffs behind you. Yesterday had a maximum of 16.0C but everything is back on-track today with a maximum of 20.2C, loads of sunshine and with more humidity and hardly a breath of wind it felt much warmer. -- Nick Gardner Otter Valley, Devon 20 m amsl http://www.ottervalleyweather.me.uk |

Warm in Haytor too today with 16C. Refreshing cooling breeze, ideal day for a 13 mile walk followed by some gardening, to be followed by a few beers .....
