21.3°C here and one of the few times a year my max is amoung the highest
of the day.

But Eskdalemuir at 21.0°C, really?

Seems to be correct. Eskdalemuir is only 242 m asl according to Ogimet and Met Office.

Looks okay to me. Warm and dry air from above the inversion mixed
down by passage over the hills to the east.

It's the 'West of Scotland Walled Garden' effect. See my explanation of
25th July 2014 and my response to your similar comment on 1st August
2014.

It can get uncomfortably warm here whereas in Helensburgh, 10km to our
south and with an open aspect over the Clyde estuary the temperature is
usually 2-3 degrees lower in the same conditions.
